What the numbers mean
Confirmed case counts come from health agencies or WHO reports. News coverage helps show where public updates have been reported, but it is not counted as confirmed cases on its own.
Individual cases reported by WHO or a public health agency. Some locations are approximate when the exact location was not published.
Public totals from official sources when individual locations are not available, such as a cruise-ship cluster or country report.
Articles and public updates add context and source links. They do not change confirmed case counts unless a health agency reports the case.
